about

This tune is a rumination on the difficulty of both accepting and giving support in a challenging moment.

To make the tune, we returned to our lake-house-turned-studio in the quiet town of Goodview, VA where we made our 2019 LP. This time, we left our fidelity-focused digital recording rig behind and opted instead for only a small format Midas console, a 4-track cassette recorder, an array of unique microphones, and a love for room sounds

lyrics

My dear friend, it's no good to just sit around thinking,
"Who might put a light in their eye,"
Now that you're old news.

My lovely friend, you're good.
Your heart is an open book.
Your old life's not coming back, but maybe a new one could.

"Why don't you quit feeling so bad?"
Your friends say that it's easy. They've read a book about it.
You're not gonna live forever - no, one day you're gonna die.
You better come down from that lonely mountain while you've still got time.

about

T. Gold Carrboro, North Carolina

The folk music of T.Gold is full of plaintive melodies, roomy production, and pleasantly sparse instrumentation: gentle strums, minimal percussion, delicate harmonies, the odd horn or flute. The result is a collection of sunset-hued slow songs with a rootsy bent and occasional references to tech-related anxiety. ... more
